Most people who read this post would say they believe in the power of prayer. The Bible is clear that God moves as a result of the heartfelt prayers of His children. James 5:16 says, “The effective prayer of a righteous man avails much.” The Passion Translation says, “Tremendous power is released through the passionate, heartfelt prayer of a godly believer.” Does the intensity of our prayer life reflect that we believe this?

I recently had a situation in my family’s life that required God’s intervention. Without Him moving, there was little hope. During this time, I reached out to some of my friends and family to pray. A group of ladies I meet with once a month even committed to fast and pray over the situation. We chose a day to come together in united prayer. We were not together physically, but our hearts were knit together. I’m so thankful for those who will stand in faith and pray for breakthrough.

We have seen breakthrough! Hallelujah! God has proven Himself to us once again. There is still room for even more change, but an answer we have needed has come. There is hope once again. Revelation 19:11 says, “And I saw heaven opened; and behold, a white horse, and He who sat upon it is called Faithful and True; and in righteousness He judges and wages war.” The battle has been intense, but our conquering King has lived up to His name – Faithful and True!

One of the things God has asked me is, “Are you praying with the same intensity for the needs of others as you would want and expect them to do for you?” When we face a crisis, we want support and prayer. Should we not do the same for others? How intensely do we pray for others? How far are we willing to go to see them experience answers? The Bible says we reap what we sow. This doesn’t just apply to financial needs. If we sow love, we will reap love. If we sow kindness, we’ll reap kindness. If we sow financially, we will reap financially. If we sow prayer, we will reap prayer.

Next time you are asked to pray for someone, I encourage you to pray with the same fervor you would if you were facing the same situation. I am blessed to have people surrounding me that have been willing to invest their time and energy praying for me and my family. I am eternally grateful.
