It has been said that man can live forty days without food, four days without water, four minutes without air, but only four seconds without hope. We must have hope no matter how bad things may be.

Zechariah 9:12 (NASB) says, “Return to the stronghold, O prisoners who have hope; This very day I am declaring that I will restore double to you.” Proverbs 23:18 (NASB) says, “Surely there is a future, And your hope will not be cut off.”

Our hope must rest in God – nothing else. “My soul, wait in silence for God only, For my hope is from Him.” (Psalms 62:5 (NASB) We can have hope because of His mercy. “This I recall to mind, Therefore I have hope. The Lord’s lovingkindnesses indeed never cease., For His compassions never fail. They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness.” (Lamentations 3:21-23 (NASB)

I pray this over you today. “Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that you will abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” (Romans 15:13 NASB)
