Is your walk with Jesus as close as it was when you were first saved or have you allowed distractions to pull you away? Can you honestly say you are living a vibrant Christian experience with a sense of Jesus’ presence with you all the time? If not, you’re living an inferior Christian life.
Sometimes it’s good to reflect on what it felt like when you were first forgiven of your sins and Jesus came to live in you by His Spirit. Remember how strong His presence was in your life? Remember how you couldn’t get enough of His word and you prayed so much?
Hebrews 2:1 (NASB) says, “We must pay much closer attention to what we have heard, so that we do not we drift away from it.” When Jesus was visiting Mary and Martha, Martha was frustrated with Mary because she wasn’t helping her serve. Jesus asked her, “Why are you upset and troubled, pulled away by all these many distractions? Are they really that important? Mary has discovered the one thing most important by choosing to sit at my feet.” (Luke 10:41-42 TPT)
There is a time to serve and a time to sit. Have you been distracted from your relationship with Jesus? Have you lost your first love? In Revelation 2:4-5 (NASB), Jesus said to the church at Ephesus, “You have left your first love. Therefore remember from where you have fallen, and repent, and do the deeds you did at first.”
If you find yourself drifting or not as in love with Jesus as you used to be, take some time to turn away from distractions and turn toward Him. Rekindle that relationship by spending time in His presence. Open your Bible, pray, and seek His face. He’s waiting for you.
